Position Summary
The Assistant Night Shift Production Manager supports the Night Shift Production Manager in leading tank production on the night shift and runs the shift in the Night Shift Production Manager’s absence. This role helps direct night shift crews, execute the tank shop pull plan, track production status and ERP updates, coordinate materials, and ensure clear handoffs with the day shift.
This position requires strong leadership potential, organization, attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to make sound decisions during hours when other members of management are not typically on site. The Assistant Night Shift Production Manager helps remove barriers, improve visibility, and ensure that accurate information flows between night shift, day shift, purchasing, quality, shipping, and management, while developing toward a full production management role in a fast-paced steel fabrication environment.
Performance Expectations/KPIs
- Night shift production targets and pull plan milestones are supported, and production status is updated accurately every shift.
- Shift safety meetings, inspections, and corrective-action follow-up are completed consistently, and hazards and incidents are reported promptly.
- Quality and inspection documentation is complete, and nonconformances and rework are tracked through completion.
- ERP job information, labor entries, and production documentation are entered accurately and on time.
- Shift-to-shift handoffs are complete, documented, and communicated to the day shift every day.
- 5-S, attendance tracking, and crew support contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient night shift.
