Safety Representative – Sullivan, IN

As a Safety Representative, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment on a greenfield data center construction project in Sullivan, IN. This role involves conducting job site safety inspections, identifying potential hazards, monitoring compliance with safety regulations, and working directly with construction crews to implement safe work practices. The project will primarily involve civil construction activities, with medium-voltage electrical and fiber optic work occurring during later phases. You must follow all safety guidelines, company procedures, and project requirements to maintain a safe and productive work environment.

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (through April 2027)

Hourly Rate: Based on Experience (BOE); per diem may be considered, local candidates preferred

Expected Hours: 60 hours per week (6 days per week, 10-hour shifts)

Required Skills:

• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Minimum of 5 years of field safety experience required.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction site safety procedures.
• Experience conducting field safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Familiarity with civil construction activities and associated safety hazards.
• Ability to identify unsafe work practices and implement corrective actions.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work directly with field crews and project management to maintain safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct regular job site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
• Monitor safety compliance throughout all phases of greenfield data center construction.
• Oversee safety practices related to civil construction, excavation, grading, and site development activities.
• Support safety operations during medium-voltage electrical and fiber optic installation phases.
• Identify, document, and address unsafe work practices and job site conditions.
• Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee safety training.
• Work closely with supervisors, subcontractors, and field personnel to promote safe work practices.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific requirements.
• Assist with incident investigations, safety reporting, and corrective action procedures.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, and training reports.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage employee participation in workplace safety initiatives.
• Maintain a consistent field presence to support safe and efficient construction operations.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of construction field safety experience required.
• Previous experience supporting civil construction or large-scale industrial projects preferred.
• Experience with greenfield construction or data center projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with excavation, earthmoving, heavy equipment, and general construction safety practices.
• Knowledge of medium-voltage electrical and fiber optic construction safety procedures preferred.
• Experience conducting safety audits, employee training, and incident investigations.
• Ability to interpret and enforce OSHA regulations and project safety requirements.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
• Ability to work 60 hours per week, including weekends as scheduled.
• Strong organizational skills, reliability, leadership, and attention to detail.
