Marine Structural Welder

MUST HAVE THREE YEARS OF SHIPYARD EXPERIENCE!

Locations: Wisconsin

Experience: Three years of shipyard experience as a first-class welder.

Required Skills:

• Perform multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and GMAW-P (Pulsed Arc Welding).
• Use an oxygen-propane heating torch.
• Work effectively in physically demanding environments, including shipboard settings, subassemblies, ladders, and staging.
• Demonstrate familiarity with OSHA regulations applicable to the shipbuilding industry.
• Perform air carbon arc gouging.
• Use fillet and butt weld gauges correctly.

Welding Qualification: Before beginning productive work, candidates must pass all-position, multi-pass butt-weld qualification tests in accordance with MIL-STD-248D, Paragraph 5.3.3. Required tests include:

• SMAW in the horizontal (2G), vertical (3G), and overhead (4G) positions.
• FCAW in the horizontal (2G), vertical (3G), and overhead (4G) positions.
• GMAW in the horizontal (2G) position.
• GMAW-P in the horizontal (2G), vertical (3G), and overhead (4G) positions.
• Air carbon arc gouging proficiency.
