SUMMARY A zulily Merchandise Manager is responsible for driving the merchandising strategies for a specific category/categories that support the company business objectives. The MM is responsible for curating the event calendar, approving event financials, and developing overall merchandise strategies that will deliver new and exciting product at an incredible value to our members every day. The MM is responsible to teach, train and inspire their buyer’s and assistant buyers to develop and deliver an amazing partnership and experience with our internal and external partners/ customers. The MM is responsible to meet/ exceed their financial goals ensuring our vendors are delivering quality product, within our shipping timeframe, fulfilling 100% of the product zulily has ordered. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide direction to Buyer to build a balanced, strong event that matches the Zulily member aesthetic. Manage, train and coach team including Buyer, Associate Buyer and Assistant Buyers to drive high performance. Curate the calendar- ensure inventory and events meet the financial goals per day. Collaborate with other category Merch Manager to ensure alignment in processes and strategic planning Approve Homepage with their team Drive resolution to change management-on time shipping, cancels, shortages, etc. Financial responsibility by category meeting financial goals- margin, post ship and discount. Develop and implement best practices, guidelines and category strategies Aware of market place trends and new business plus competitive landscape Develop strategic partnerships with buyer for top 50+ vendors Develop seasonal category plans (boutiques, holidays, etc) QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years Sr Manager/ Director experience Strong negotiation skills and understanding of merchandising financials and the ability to manage profitability Experience in hiring, training and managing a team of 15-20+ people Ability to analyze reports and draw conclusions/ recommendations Ability to remain flexible and willing to change strategies as business needs dictate Self starter, ambitious in nature, detailed oriented and eager to drive the business Passionate about the retail industry Strong verbal and written skills Strong time management and organizational skills. Strong networking skills/ability to form partnerships Strong negotiating skills/strong problem solving Interpersonal skills for building working relations with team zulily is an equal opportunity employer
