JOB DESCRIPTION

We're currently seeking a Circuit Breaker Technician for a contract opportunity in Napa, CA, with our partner, one of the world's leading energy suppliers and innovators in energy infrastructure development. This position is a circuit breaker technician in a low and medium voltage circuit breaker repair shop. This position is responsible for the evaluation, repair, and refurbishment of low and medium voltage (up to 38KV) circuit breakers in a shop environment. This position will include a substantial amount of hands-on product specific training and will be evaluated quarterly and requires a high degree of mechanical aptitude. Position requires a large amount of mechanical disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and adjustment following defined procedures. Shop tools and test equipment are provided.

Daily Responsibilities Include:
  • Identifies and utilizes repair procedures for required upgrades and repairs.
  • Assemble, operate and maintain test equipment, and maintain records and test data.
  • Assists in conducting electrical testing of circuit breakers to include, hi-pot, ductor, meggar, primary current injection and secondary injection.
  • Performs mechanical testing of circuit breakers to include trip force, timing, and proper operation of racking mechanisms.
  • Obtain, compile and record test data including formulas, procedures, charts and graphs. Interpret test results. Analyze data to check reasonableness. Documents test results and provides reports.
  • This position is responsible for servicing both company and non-company circuit breakers utilized in non-nuclear applications.
  • Follow standard practices and procedures in resolving basic and complex problems.
  • Focus on quality of workmanship, technical superiority, and efficient use of time.
  • Understand customer workscope and communicate changes or clarifications.
  • Participate in field service and shop safety training.
  • Perform all tasks utilizing all necessary safety procedures and equipment. Is specifically trained and understands the OSHA guidelines regarding electrical safety (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269).
  • Perform duties in a manner compliant with prevailing quality procedures and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.


Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a shop environment to include experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, repair or refurbishment of electrical/mechanical systems or a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering configuration and wiring drawings.
  • Ability to operate electrical test equipment such as digital volt meters, ductor, meggar, hi-pot, and primary current injection sets.
  • Ability to recognize problems and to obtain and provide information.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics, drawings and other engineering documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills .
  • Basic computer skills to include both Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs .


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in electronics, engineering, or a technical field .
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage circuit breakers (480V – 38KV) .
  • 2-4 years of experience in a related field OR special combination of education and experience + demonstrated accomplishments .
  • Demonstrated Continuous Improvement Successes .
  • Quality assurance and/or inspection experience .
  • Six Sigma, 5S, Lean, or equivalent training .


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • This is a 6+ month contract position.
  • This is an hourly position and typical work hours are 6:30a – 5p Mon-Thur.
