As part of the Humedica division of our Optum Analytics team, you will be responsible for three main areas: risk assessment (identifying problems Optum Analytics might face), vulnerability assessment (determining system and application weaknesses) and defense planning (implementing appropriate countermeasures).  Your primary responsibility will be to perform all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. 

 

In this hands-on role as Information Security Engineer, you will work with bright and creative engineers.  You will be challenged every day to find creative solutions to problems. This role is based in our Boston, MA office, however there is potential for an internal employee to work remotely.  There will be no travel if in the Boston area. 


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Participate in Risk Assessment for the organization

  • Conduct application and system vulnerability and configuration scans as part of the SDLC

  • Perform periodic and on-demand vulnerability assessments and system audits for configuration compliance to the benchmark

  • Recognize potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises thorough reviews and analyses of relevant application, system, and security device events

  • Evaluate firewall change requests and assess organizational risk

  • Participate in the Computer Security Incident Response activities, coordinates with other internal organizations to record and report incidents

  • Prepare incident reports of analysis methodology and results

  • Assist with implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls

  • Maintain current knowledge of information security threats and relevant technologies

  • Participate in special projects as required

Requirements


Required Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of experience working in data security administration

  • 2+ years of data security administration principles, methods, and techniques

  • Familiarity with systems administration and hardening, user authentication, and system logging

  • 2+ years of experience working with firewall best practices and configuration

  • 2+ years working with network controls, end point configuration and network configuration

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Exposure to HIPAA policies and procedures and documentation requirements

  • Experience with administration of SIEMs

  • Experience using Rapid7 Nexpose, Tenable Nessus vulnerability scanning tools and TripWire Configuration Compliance Manager
