Category Manager – Space Management

The purpose of this role is to support the development of space and assortment plans across our retail customer bases, which result in increased space, number of items and positive positioning for DPSG brands. The individual works collaboratively with Category Management department to take ownership of space projects and deliver project according to retailer timeline with full accuracy, as well as assist in the strategic future direction of space management at DPSG. The Space Manager will be responsible for assigned channels externally, and a specific category/brand internally aligning with insights/brand team on research and innovation projects. This role works cross functionally across the organization, with retail customers and vendors, and reports to the Director of Category Management – Space.

The ideal candidate will bring 5 or more years of Category Management experience, preferably with 3 or more years of experience using JDA Suite of tools, with the use of IKB and Planogram Generator being a definite plus. Certified in category management as defined by CMA standards would also be an advantage.

The individual must be able to work in a dynamic work environment and able to effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty. They will understand balancing the art and science of presentation, and must be able to speak in front of a group is required. They will utilize keen project management skills (planning, organizing, and managing resources) to bring about the successful completion of specific projects and goals.

This role is office based at our Plano, TX headquarters, with 10% travel.

Requirements:



1. Basic knowledge in Category Management principals.

2. Execute the Space Management plans and processes at retailers assigned.

3. Sell and communicate our space methodology and process to retail customers to influence decisions

4. Working knowledge and experience with assortment tools and methodologies which mutually benefit DPS and retailer category, Richmix experience is a plus

5. Analyzes performance metrics, such as days of supply, turns, margins, and sales to provide recommendations that identify potential opportunities to improve productivity of space.

6. Works with category managers, bottling partners and retail partners to adjust planograms quickly during the year to facilitate speed to market for products that would improve overall assortment performance.

7. Create logical, aesthetically pleasing, customer friendly plan-o-grams. Develop all documentation associated with category resets to include plan-o-gram capture, print layouts and necessary communication that enables flawless execution in the stores.

8. Creates and manages planograms at the store level using space planning software according to merchandising and planogram standards.

9. Provide creative recommendations for testing scenarios, optimize flows, increase planogram production

10. Work with upper management and cross-functional groups on defining, integrating, and communicating space performance metrics as well as the development of integrated space productivity reporting.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

§ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution

§ 5 years of experience in Space/Category Management, Retail and/or Sales or analyzing related data such as sales trends, assortment selections and planogram development

§ 3 years of experience in Space Planning software (JDA, Apollo, Richmix,etc.)

§ 1 year of experience using MS Access, Tableau, Micro Strategies, or similar data management tool
