2015 SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Title: Retirement Actuarial & Non-Actuarial Intern
Summary:
• Data collection and preparation
• Government filings
• Preparation of annual pension valuations
• Develop benefit comparisons
• Assist with regulatory compliance filings
• Develop broader understanding of benefit programs and operations
• Participate in special projects or assignments as instructed by supervisor
Training: Through real-life client assignments and courses offered by Buck Consultants University, interns will receive both on-the-job and classroom training. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a specially designed virtual training program. Through webcasts, individual assignments and team projects, you will learn about things such as:
• Client services offered by Buck and Xerox
• Using WebEx
• Business writing
• Benefit plan documents
• Spreadsheet design • Medical plan design
• Benefits, pay and total rewards
• Personalized benefit calculations
• Team building
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Math, Actuarial Science, Business or Economics degree or equivalent to demonstrate strong analytical skills
• Minimum 3.0 grade point average
• Excellent verbal and writing skills to document work and communicate with colleagues
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
• You must be detail oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong PC skills are required
• Must have advanced skills in Excel to manipulate large amounts of data
• The actuarial intern role prefers the completion of one actuarial exam
• The non-actuarial intern role does not need or require any SOA exam progression
