As Human Capital Leader for Logistics Health Incorporated (LHI), lead the strategy, planning and implementation, and administration of Human Capital (HC) related processes, practices, and policies which maximize the achievement of short and long-term business goals.  This includes, but is not limited to, proactive planning and effective execution of organization planning, talent needs assessments, diversity & inclusion, performance management, talent acquisition, management & development, total rewards & recognition, training, organization effectiveness, and related programs (leveraging UnitedHealth Group centers of excellence, as appropriate).  Administer payroll and benefits and ensure HR compliance with government contracting requirements. Partner with management and marketing/communications team to ensure effective internal employee communications.  Advise leaders on HC policy and program matters.  Represent LHI at community and military events to build relationships and promote the brand.  Effectively partner with leadership team and the HC organization to ensure strong and effective HC practices.

 

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Organization Leadership / Business Partner 

    • Participate in planning the strategic direction of the organization and develop long range plans to achieve HC objectives.  Identify and address HC issues significant to the achievement of those plans and objectives.  Conduct in-depth supply / demand analysis of current and future people skills and needs of the organization and develop strategies and plans to close any gaps. Partner with the leadership team in promoting changes which enable the organization to successfully adapt to a rapidly changing external environment.  Requires strong business acumen and knowledge of the business, products, markets, and competitors.

  • Organization Effectiveness / Development

    • Assist leaders in ensuring effective organization structure, communication, problem analysis and resolution.  Suggest and implement activities to build a common focus and united team approach.  Lead the Culture Leadership Team.   Drive change management to ensure a constantly learning and growing organization—ahead of competitive threats.  Prepare employees for ongoing change and transformation, leveraging enterprise tools and practices.  Partner with management to ensure that organization structure, workforce strategies, and design and staffing of positions are effective and consistent with business needs.  Provide counsel in the design and implementation of new organization structures and processes which increase overall organization effectiveness and customer satisfaction.  Partner with leaders to develop talent and performance management processes and employee engagement programs which deliver business value.

  • HC Functional Leadership

    • Provide strong and proactive leadership to the HC team.  Develop and set functional direction and objectives for the HC organization, in alignment with the broader Optum HC organization.  Attract, hire and grow talent and leadership capability within the HC team and ensure effective succession planning.  Lead by example with your direct reports in objective setting, regular communication and feedback, development activities and appropriate reward / recognition.  Develop and monitor budgets, in partnership with finance, and ensure effective & prudent utilization of assigned resources. 

  • Key Talent Acquisition, Development and Retention

    • Effectively develop strategies to recruit for current and future talent needs.  Support leadership team in effectively identifying and planning for future talent needs, assessing current workforce, and creating a build and buy strategy to close any gaps.  Foster employee and leadership development throughout the organization.  Consult leaders on training and development needs and develop strategies to address training and development needs.  Effectively implement and communicate compensation and benefits programs to successfully attract, motivate and retain employees.  Effectively partner with UHG and Optum compensation and benefits resources. Identify and develop innovative incentive/reward systems which address the unique needs of the organization.   Design and implement retention strategies—as appropriate—focusing on key leaders and individuals with core competencies or skills critical to the organization.  Ensure clear differentiation of performance in rewards and recognition.

  • Employee Relations & Communications

    • Anticipate, identify and facilitate resolution of employee relations issues, leveraging enterprise employee relations resources and legal (where appropriate).  Act as internal consultant in addressing issues (e.g. employee morale, personal and interpersonal problems, health and safety, work conditions, etc.) and counsel leaders on HC policies/practices and legal considerations. Possess a thorough knowledge of relevant legislative requirements.  Partner with leaders to ensure effective internal and external communications for their organizations.    Support leaders in the identification of strategies to increase productivity, employee performance, and employee engagement, and design metrics to track the effectiveness of these initiatives.  Create processes and solutions in partnership with management which support a positive employee relations environment through effective communications, policies and practices. 

  • HR Administration

    • Lead payroll and benefits administration including the selection and implementation of health and wellness programs which support the overall people strategy. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.  Lead the selection and ensure the effective delivery of outsourced services such as leave management and 401(k) administration. Lead HRIS and HC analytics which support business decisions.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources/Business or related field
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in HC or related field
  • Successful track record as a HC generalist with involvement in end-to-end HC leadership including organization design and development, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employment, and employee training and development
  • Previous leadership experience in a fast growing, rapidly changing business
  • 5+ years' experience in providing work direction and leadership to people and teams
  • Experience in HC strategy development and execution
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing change initiatives
  • Experience in matrix management structure
  • Experience with management of multiple sites  
  • Experience in acquisition integration
  • Strong leadership & delegation skills; demonstrated track record of recruiting, selecting, developing and leading high performance teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications; effective interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and lead others who may or may not report to this position
  • Results oriented; ability to prioritize rapidly and strong problem solving skills; excellent decision making/analysis skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Computer skills in HRIS (PeopleSoft preferred), database, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software
  • Effective in interactions at all levels of the company
  • Strong coaching and consulting skills
  • Facilitation skills - group and individual, training, team development, conflict resolution
  • Effective in developing communication strategies and executing them within the organization
  • Must have a high sense of urgency in providing a strong level of service and follow through; track record of bringing tangible

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Senior Professional in HR/HC with SHRM accreditation preferred
  • Preferred HC/HR Masters or MBA with HC/HR specialization
  • Proven experience working in a government contracts; private sector employer is highly preferred
