Southwest Medical Associates (SMA) is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants consisting of over 300 providers, 21 medical health centers including six urgent care clinics, four convenient care centers, two lifestyle centers catering to older adults, an outpatient surgery center, plus E-visits and online options via Now Clinic telemedicine technology. SMA offers patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout southern Nevada. SMA is headquartered in the greater Las Vegas, NV area.
Performs CT exams and imaging procedures per department protocol. Responsible for daily operations within the Imaging - CT Department, including patient schedules, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment. The lead tech will perform all duties and assist in making imaging copies, checking referrals, ordering supplies, managing the CT staffing schedule for multiple sites, preparing for ACR accreditation, consulting with the radiologist regarding CT protocols, radiologist peer review, CT Tech QA, and any other assigned lead duties that arise based on operational needs. This staff will help cover their shift as well as any needed shifts, days and sites for imaging as necessary based on operating needs including Holidays and weekends as necessary.
Primary Responsibilities:
Following physicians' orders, produces CT images per departmental protocol for the use in diagnosing medical problems
Greets, correctly identifies patient, prepares patient for examination, and explains specific procedures to be performed in appropriate confidential area
Obtain necessary consents from the patients and verifies required lab values; Initiates, maintains and discontinues IV access
Accurately maintains patient imaging records, utilizing the radiology information system (R.I.S.) and PACS/Synapse application in accordance to HIPAA, and company guidelines, policies and procedure
Processes radiologic digital images, examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability, and generates additional plans of images as needed for the Radiologist review
Knowledgeable process for transferring images into the PAC/Synapse computer system (print or teleradiology)
Prepares copies of images, preliminary reports, and contacts referring physician when required according to established procedures
Maintains Imaging equipment, work area, and ensures adequate supplies are available, follows all safety standards and uses radiation protection when operating CT equipment
Assists lower level employees with more complex issues and problems
May also be assigned to other modalities provided incumbent is certified or licensed in those modalities
Will comply with mandatory Fit and TB Testing as a job requirement

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
5+ years CT experience
Graduate of an approved AMA Radiologic Technology program
Current ARRT(R) certification in CT
Current CPR certification
High school education or equivalent experience
Advanced knowledge of CT (imaging) equipment, testing and safety hazards related to radiology
Comprehensive knowledge of CT (imaging) positioning/procedures and diagnosis
Advanced understanding in the axial, coronal and saggital planes of CT images
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills
Proven ability to effectively communicate technical procedures and results with patients and providers
Skilled in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging
Must be skilled in starting and stopping IV's (using IV catheters) for contrast injection
