Providence is calling a Registered Nurse to the Medical/Surgical Unit at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK.

The Registered Nurse will assess patient needs, plans, perform interventions, evaluate responses to care and documents this nursing process.

In this position you will:

Perform nursing history and physical examination and review pertinent medical information to determine patient needs.

Carry out the plan of care of the individual, including medical orders, and the plan of care identified by other involved disciplines. Evaluate the response of patient to interventions and revise plan of care as needed.

Identify learning needs and initiate measures to meet the educational need of patient and family.

Document nursing process in an accurate legible and timely manner.

Required qualifications for this position include:

Completion of an accredited nursing program

Associates Degree

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska at time of hire

BLS or ability to acquire within ninety (90) days of date of hire

ACLS or ability to acquire within six (6) months of date of hire

Two (2) years Registered Nurse experience in an acute setting

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Bachelor's Degree

About Kodiak Island Medical Center

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) provides comprehensive health care to residents and visitors of Kodiak Island. This critical access hospital features 25 acute care beds, including four birthing suites, one OB triage room, and two ICU beds. In addition, the Elder House, PKIMC's long term care facility, has 22 beds.

PKIMC provides an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency department, surgery, laboratory services, maternity, general medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, sleep studies, specialty clinics, diagnostic imaging services and pharmacy and is staffed by a mix of primary care physicians, surgeons and specialists who provide family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, radiology and general practice.
