Position Description

The Restorative Therapies Neuromodulation Research and Development group at Medtronic is seeking a highly motivated freshman-level or higher undergraduate engineering/computer science student to participate in a short-term internship at our facility in Santa Ana.

Position Responsibilities

The project involves image analysis, data extraction, organization, and presentation of results within the product development organization.

The position also offers the opportunity to develop and use new software packages for image analysis. More information about the company in general may be obtained at www.medtronic.com . The internship is for 40 hours/week during the summer and is expected to continue throughout the 2016-2017 school year. The internship should end in April 2017 and requires an average of ten hours of onsite work per week during the school year, although hours are extremely flexible during the school year. The Medtronic facility is a short 10-mile drive from campus.

Basic Qualifications

1 year of undergraduate work in a technical or engineering Bachelor's program.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

* Working knowledge of scripting/programming languages to automate analysis.

* Introductory background to medical image processing or similar.

* Ability to write and debug code: familiarity with a programming language (e.g. JAVA, C#, etc.)

* Knowledge of neurological anatomy.

* Lab notebook and good lab practice familiarity

* Ability to work with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint software packages for data manipulation/presentation.

* Talent for learning quickly.
