Hiring permanent, part-time PLAY, ART & MUSIC INSTRUCTORS

Designed by experts, our age-appropriate activities help develop the cognitive, physical and social skills of children as they play. Our programs are also recognized for their unique approach to parent involvement, which encourages participation in and understanding of their child's development. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Gymboree Play & Music, a leader in developmental play, is seeking dynamic men and women to teach a full range of early childhood classes for its East Bay Play & Music locations. Classes are for children (ages birth - 5years) and include Music, Art and Play, the high-energy physical and sensory class that has made Gymboree famous for 40 years. Applicants must enjoy children, be comfortable interacting with adults and have the ability to bring enthusiasm and creativity to each class. Teachers and students are moving around and active! Our program is fun and inventive and you should be too! We have positions in ART, MUSIC & PLAY. "Gymboree teachers need to shine in the classroom. Responsibilities (You're On!): Our Gymboree teachers need to do whatever it takes to give our families a consistently great experience. That includes:

-Wearing many hats, Being a team player and having the ability to multi-task -Initiating conversation about Gymboree programs and products to families. No hard sell -Resolve issues on-site, in the moment, with a kind and thoughtful demeanor -Communicate clearly with Adults both in-person and on the phone -Hosting special events and parties -Cleaning -Recordkeeping, and most important: -Parents and caregivers are an integral part of Gymboree classes. A Gymboree teacher's job is to facilitate parent/caregiver-child activities. So, candidates must be equally at ease directing and engaging adults as they are working with children -Teaching fun, 45- 60 minute classes to one or more class levels

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Strong group facilitation skills -Playful and engaging teaching style combined with a positive, warm and charismatic personality -Flexible and hard-working; Creative -Not afraid to act "silly" for the sake of a lesson! -Ability to connect with both adults and young children -Gymboree teachers must have a natural drive to learn and teach -Comfortable with computers (we will train you on specific programs) -High level of accountability and integrity -Ability to take direction, but work independently -Ability to get up and down, unaided, from a sitting position on the floor -Ability to lift 35lbs -Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent -All applicants must pass a background check -All applicants must show proof of their right to work in the US

Other Helpful Qualifications: *Singing, dancing, or theatre experience: Children or Adult *Experience teaching young children, desirable HOURS & COMPENSATION: This is a part-time teaching position. Classes are held seven days a week and your teaching schedule can include weekday, weekend or a combination of both. SUNDAY availability is required.  Your total hours will depend on your availability and skill set for each age group. Hours typically range from 6-20 hours per week, but more may be available for the right candidate. Ideal for a student or anyone with a part-time or flexible schedule, however we are seeking long-term employees who would like to make a career of teaching young children in an exceptional environment.
