About this job
The Claims Specialist II oversees and reviews all claims handled by the Company's insurers and/or claims administrators to ensure best practices are followed. This position is also responsible for ensuring claims made against the Company are handled fairly and efficiently.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Monitors the progress and status of claims handled by the insurance carrier by accessing the Claims Management System
Discusses and recommends claims strategies with insurers and/or administrators, Claims Representatives and defense counsel, on an individual and group, round-table basis
Conducts discovery research, responds to interrogatories and communicates with defense attorneys and the internal legal department regarding claims made against the Company
Evaluates claim settlement requests, provides recommendations and rationale regarding settlement positions
Prepares and presents property damage claims to responsible parties
Evaluates statistical reports to identify trends in claims, issues and opportunities
Assists with the reporting of first and third-party damage of Company vehicles and car allowance vehicles
Reports claims including workers comp, general liability, products, property and auto to the appropriate parties, as needed
Prepares defense and represents the Company in Small Claims Court
Tenders litigation to outside parties when necessary
Attends seminars and completes other training to remain current on industry trends
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Approximately three (3) to five (5) years of any combination of experience and/or education that demonstrates a commanding knowledge in workers compensation, general liability and property insurance
Should have knowledge in various lines of insurance
Must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Should be able to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take pro-active action in preparation for possible contingencies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Interactive verbal and listening skills for extended periods
Sitting for extended periods of time, using telephone, typing and/or operating a computer and/or mouse
Travels as needed approximately five (5) %
