Special Inspector / CMT (Construction Materials Tester)

Raleigh based engineering firm is currently looking for individuals to join their inspections team. In this position the engineering technician will be involved with field observation, inspecting and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt placement.

Daily communication is required with site contractors, other technicians and project managers. The candidate should have the knowledge an ability to perform observations, inspections and tests of construction projects and to document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice.

Following inspections, the individual will be expected to turn in daily, weekly and monthly reports to verify the data collected in the field.

Minimum Qualifications

- EI Certification OR ICC Certifications: Masonry, Soils, Spray-Applied Proofing, etc. (preferred)

- Ability/willingness to work on Vertical or horizontal construction projects.

- BS degree and 0-2 years experience; without BS degree: 2 years of field and/or inspections experience

- Ability to calculate results from construction inspections

- Ability to read and interpret construction documents

- Written and Verbal Communication Skills

- Ability to accurately complete field testing paperwork and detailed figures
