Job Summary\: 

 

Provides acute and rehabilitative care for patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Responsible for education, counseling, research, and administration components within the specialty of Enterostomal (ET), Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) nursing.  

 

Work requires professional nursing expertise and a thorough understanding of patient care standards/practices sufficient to make appropriate recommendations regarding the plan of care of participating patients. Thorough knowledge of current ostomy, prosthetics, and wound treatment modalities is also required.     

 

 

Essential Duties\:  

 

Develops, implements, and modifies plans of care for wound care, ostomy, and continence patients.

Serves as primary patient educator; educates patients and family regarding ostomy care in order to facilitate complete rehabilitation through independence and self-care. Serves as a resource and provides community outreach. 

Serves as a consultant in areas of specialty for FHS and community.    

Completes documentation in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner in accordance with FHS standards and procedures. 

 

Qualification:

Education / Work Experience 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and graduation from an accredited Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education program (at hire or within 9 months from date of hire in the position) and one year of recent work experience in the practice of ET (WOC) nursing that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. 

 

  

 

License/Certification 

 

Licensure by the Washington State Board of Nursing is required. 

Board certification in Wound, Ostomy, and/or Continence Nursing is required.  

 

Current Health Care Provider BLS Certification
