About this job
Essential Functions:
* Sets up trayline and assembles trays for patient service.
* Takes food temperatures as required. Documents outcomes, processes appropriately. Notifies Supervisor of all temperatures out of compliance.
* Cleans workstation after each meal service.
* Takes temperature of refrigerators, freezers. Properly documents temperatures, documents and takes appropriate action when temperatures are out of acceptable range.
* Responsible to inspect and ensure integrity of food items. Rotate, date, label, ensure none are outdated.
* Pushes food carts, racks and dish bins.
* Maintain clean trayline area by cleaning and deep cleaning galley equipment, refrigerators, cupboards, tables, etc., as required by accrediting and regulatory agencies.
* Prepares and delivers late trays/food items.
* Determines food count, prepares and pre-portions food items for patient tray assembly.
* Weighs and measures menu items for special diets.
* Prepare trayline salads, using standardized recipes, as required for patient menu.
* Prepares and slices vegetables and fruits for patient menu and related recipes.
* Prepares jello, puddings, and custards.
* Breakdown leftover items.
* Prepares bulk nourishments and swallow evaluation kits.
* Requisitions, gathers, and stocks supplies in work area.
* Takes and records equipment temperatures as instructed in department and patient care areas. Notifies Supervisor of any out of compliance.
* Demonstrates knowledge of effective customer service skills and performance improvement.
* Knowledgeable and practices food safety codes and governing standards; federal, state, local, and accreditation agencies.
* Delivers food carts to the patient care areas, transfers trays and reassigns trays as necessary.
* Assists in other areas as requested.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
* High School diploma or GED preferred.
* Knowledge of several subjects in order to prepare reports, perform calculations and/or deal effectively with other people. Reading, writing, math skills.
* Serv Safe Essentials Class.
