JOB SUMMARY
Provide technical, integration, and thought leadership for Charter’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture. This includes developing comprehensive design and configuration guidelines for integrating and growing Charter’s diverse voice switch platforms including supporting the integration of IT systems relative to Charter’s IP and IMS telecommunications and associated enhanced applications platforms. Provide escalated post-implementation support for Charter's diverse voice switch platforms. This role is responsible for working with the team responsible for building an in-depth comprehensive voice architecture using voice-over-IP and IMS telecommunication platforms. This position will work closely with Charter’s Operations, IT and Product teams, as well as external vendors to identify platform requirements, subsequent integration validation and implementing solutions to meet and exceed those requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Working knowledge of telephony soft-switches, IVRs, Voicemail, SBCs, IADs, and call routing.

Working knowledge of IMS technologies

Working knowledge of layer 3 routers, layer 2 switches, including layer 2 and 3 networking fundamentals and associated routing protocols.

Working knowledge Experience with CLI scripting (SH, KSH, BASH, etc.)

Experience with one or more programming and/or scripting languages (Java, PHP, Python, Perl, PHP, Shell, APISOAP/REST/JSON etc.)


Working knowledge of computer servers and various operating systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows, etc.)

Possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and act as an escalation point for Charter Product, Operations, IT,Engineering and other Integration teams.

Work with key stake holders to explore/gather business requirements and design detailed voice and/or IT integration architectures based on defined requirements.


Act as a technical expert addressing problems relating to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platform integration specific to the voice network, applications and provisioning and activation domains

Establish the integrity, viability, functionality and capacity of voice network by assisting with writing and executing detailed test plans and documenting test results.

Develop RFP and RFQs for the evaluation of vendors, products, and solutions without bias or predisposition to make informed recommendations; and fully document findings.

Provide in-depth documentation of Voice architectures including Engineering Design Documents (EDD), Method of Procedure (MOP), and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

Provide Engineering Technical support, guidance, and thought leadership to Charter Product, Operations, IT, Engineering, and Integration teams.

Interact with and manage tasks with members of cross-functional teams.


Establish working relationships with peers, vendors and contractors using strong collaborative inter-personal skills.

Manage multiple tasks simultaneously without supervision.

Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.

Know, understand and follow company policy.

Perform other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner

Expert level knowledge of industry standard voice over IP platforms such as Broadsoft, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia, Metaswitch, or Cisco

Working knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols


Must have experience relative to DB schema and programming/scripting languages

Working knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology

Working knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model

Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.

Working knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances

Working knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio

Ability to perform duties in a fast pace environment

Ability to learn new technology quickly

Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and priorities

Ability to use personal computer and software applications

Education
Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience

Expert knowledge in Voice over IP protocols including: Session Initiation Protocol (SIP); Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP); Session Description Protocol (SDP); E.164; and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)

Expert knowledge of IMS and Metaswitch

Expert knowledge in Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS); VMware vSphere; NetApp or other Fibre Channel storage solution

Knowledge of company products and services

Education
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Broadsoft, Avaya, MetaSwitch, Nokia, etc.)
