Job Summary

Performs CT Scan examinations. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the CT Scanner.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • CPR: Healthcare Provider
  • Current Florida general radiology technologist license.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a CT in a hospital setting.
  • Completed a training program in Computerized Axial Tomography.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) is required upon hire and achieve by April 2016 for current employees.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates scheduling, transporting and scanning of patients.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through in service education, current literature, seminars, etc.
  • Ensures correct examination is ordered.
  • Explains the examination and procedures to patients and parents. Checks history and previous CT scan (if any) with designated radiologist.
  • Follows hospital patient-identification policy prior to performing examination.
  • Maintains accurate and timely CT scan records.
  • Orders supplies. Maintains cleanliness of the equipment and scan room.
  • Performs high-quality CT scans/examinations as per radiologist's protocol.
  • Positions patients for scans.
  • Promptly upon completion of examination, enters and transmits patient information to PACS.
  • Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to service company.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Thorough knowledge of radiological and CT terminology, practices, procedures, physiology, and human anatomy.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to problem solve and to adapt standard clinical procedures to the individual client's need.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and react calmly under stressful conditions.
