Floral Designer - Full-time / Part-time

K-VA-T Food Stores is the parent company of Food City, a highly successful regional grocery retail operation, headquartered in the beautiful and historic town of Abingdon, VA. Food City is currently looking for experienced Floral Designers to join our Retail Operations team at various store locations in the Tri-Cities area.

About the job:

Floral Designers are responsible for the design and preparation of various floral orders and other items to customer specifications, and company product standards. Candidates are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the quality of all floral products while continuously working with fellow associates to provide a clean and safe working environment.

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Design and prepare floral arrangements
• Process floral orders and ensure proper receiving
• Properly water all plants to company specifications
• Assist with merchandising floral products and inventory
• Take telephone orders for floral and specialty items
• Maintain floral coolers with proper variety
• Assist in proper rotation and stocking of floral products
• Keep display case, work stations and area around work station neat and clean
• Make sure that all floral orders are ready for delivery to customer at or before promised time
• Prepare other department items such as gift baskets, balloons, outside plants, etc.

Qualifications:

• Prior floral design experience preferred, paid training provided
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be able to resolve differences through diplomatic means

• Flexibility in work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must have excellent problem-solving skills
• Must be able to lead by example to give Food City customers their best shopping experience
• Must be able to work effectively under strict deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact with various levels of company representatives, customers, and vendors
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks
• Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties
