Skate Guard – Recreation Aide Jerry Willey Plaza Winter Village Ice Rink Parks & Recreation Department HP#2018-48 Compensation: $11.25 to $13.47 per hour depending on qualifications. These are part-time, temporary positions from November 24, 2017 through January 1, 2018. Part-time, temporary positions are eligible to receive only those benefits required by law. Benefits such as vacation leave accrual, holiday pay, medical and dental insurance, and other similar benefits are not provided for this position. The City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Department is bringing an outdoor, open-air ice skating rink to Hillsboro. It is the only one of its kind in the region. We are currently seeking valuable individuals to join our ice management and rink operations team. Applicants must be trained skaters, have their own skates and the ability to skate up to six hours per day. Please include your ice skating background to be considered. This is an on-ice position. Must have strong customer service skills. Duties require helping customers on and off the ice while making sure everyone is skating safely. General Statement of Duties The principal function of an employee in this class is to participate with the Recreation staff in facilitating recreation activities for City participants of all ages. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, co-workers, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment. This is a non-exempt position. Acceptable Experience and Training: • Some High School; or • Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
