Job Description

Specific Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the VP of Public Affairs, Worldwide Product Communications and Asia, this role will be responsible for product communications support for Gilead’s expanding pipeline in NASH.
  • Works closely with Public Affairs leads across all geographies to drive alignment and excellence in communications on NASH externally and internally
  • Champions alignment on NASH communications through close collaboration with internal functions including Advocacy, Government Affairs, Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Commercial Planning and US Marketing
  • Prepares and executes external communication plans to effectively communicate Gilead’s science and partnership in NASH
  • Maintains relationships with key reporters to encourage coverage of / respond to inquiries about NASH
  • Lead issues preparedness and issues management efforts
  • Manage PR agency partners
  • Conducts all activities with integrity and in line with Gilead’s code of ethics and business conduct policies
  • Manages budgets to target
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • Typically requires a BA degree in communications, liberal arts, business or science-oriented field and solid experience in healthcare public relations experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Gilead’s areas of therapeutic focus and specifically those relevant to NASH, including liver disease, hepatitis C, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, obesity or other relevant areas
  • A passion for scientific communication and ability to understand complex scientific data
  • Ability to interact with senior management and academic experts appropriately, with confidence and ease
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to drive alignment against business and communications objectives
  • Experience managing multiple projects (timelines, budgets, priorities) simultaneously with a focus on delivering results
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations and issues management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and principles specific to communications for a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company
  • Must have experience with public relations tactics and resources and the relationship of those tactics to other department roles and functions
  • Ability to deliver formal presentations to external and internal audiences of a variety of sizes
