JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Sales will assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in the management, coordination and execution of items related to the sales operation of the hotel. Manage and solicit designated markets. Will be responsible for but not limited to, driving the property's group sales efforts, supervising group sales managers, booking group rooms, completing and submitting plans, actions and other reports on a timely basis. In addition, the position will assist the DOSM in developing plans and actions for Business Transient, Catering Sales, hotel marketing and eCommerce.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Plan, direct, organize and control departmental activities such as telemarketing, outside sales calls, conducting walking tours, entertaining clients, developing and soliciting new leads, presenting and preparing written proposals and contracts.
- Prospect, solicit, negotiate and contract group business as outlined by individual sales goals
- Attend tradeshow and special events
- Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Work with the DOSM to supervise sales staff through account review, correspondence review and coaching toward improvement.
- Gather, organize and disseminate both written and verbal information regarding the specific requirements of client events to the appropriate departments and individual clients in a prompt, accurate, profitable, pleasant, and professional manner.
- Develop target lists and action plans for account solicitation. Assist in assignment and distribution of leads. Provide guidance in prospecting and qualifying potential leads.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- An aggressive and professional individual with stellar hands on sales skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the hotel sales process to include lead generation, solicitation, negotiation and closing techniques.
- Ability to manage time, resources, and personnel effectively and productively.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of sales experience in similar sized operation, this is for the individual ready to take the next step.
- Hotel experience required.
- Strong knowledge of the geographic designated market.
- Ability to travel throughout designated markets in a timely manner.
- Ability to learn all aspects of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance,
- Budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, and long-range planning
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi.
