Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Pilot Unmanned Aerial Vehicle to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Edwards AFB, CA.

Essential Functions:

The selected candidate will develop and implement software integration plans in a lab environment supporting various space, aircraft, and ground systems.

  • Pilots unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) during developmental test and operational flights for the RQ-4 Block 20/30/40 systems.
  • Remotely pilots vehicle to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability during engineering tests and flight test/demonstration support through specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers.
  • Defines, plans, organizes and executes complex flight programs and flight test events in accordance with military, FAA and ICAO procedures.
  • Conducts briefings and debriefings, and coordinates with maintenance personnel to analyze and correct vehicle discrepancies.
  • Candidate may conduct demonstration flights with customers, government officials or other personnel to exhibit vehicle performance, flying qualities and system capabilities.

Position based at Edwards AFB, CA requiring occasional travel. Selected candidate must successfully complete RQ-4 UAV training and qualification program and receive Government Flight Representative (GFR) certification as a basis for continued employment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM plus nine years of related flight experience.
  • Position requires experience as a flight operations crew member.
  • Must be FAA commercial instrument rated pilot (or military equivalent) plus current Class II FAA Physical or better and have FAA single engine rating.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of flight experience as Pilot in Command and able to maintain pilot currency.
  • Must be able to hold a DoD Secret Clearance.
