Aerotek is looking for a highly skilled Welding Supervisor!

1st Shift, hourly position

Regular shift hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Supervisor is expected to work additional hours as needed. Typically starts work prior to 7 am (can be as early as 4-5am). 40 to 60 hours per week should be expected.

Our welding supervisor must know how to read blueprints, as well as have knowledge of metal fabrication and welding techniques. They will handle daily scheduling and/or follow the production supervisor's schedule, while dealing with any problems that arise during the shift. This is a "working supervisor" position - may be needed to weld as often as daily, in case of employee absence, spikes in production, or demonstrating processes to welders- but supervising is the first priority.

They need to work well in a fast-paced environment, have excellent problem solving skills, and be able to multitask on a variety of projects. Attention to detail is required. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees about production needs, as well as their performance and behavior.

Responsible for:

Attending daily production meeting before 7 am.

Supervising welding performance - up to 4 Mig and Tig welders each shift, on 1st and 2nd shift.

Ensuring production due dates are met.

Communicating the company's expectations to welders.

Ensuring production is done to customer specification, meeting all quality requirements.

Using their strong technical knowledge to recommend changes and anticipate issues with the welding process.

Seeking out and recognizing safety and health hazards to prevent worker accidents.

Conducting routine safety training and audit sessions with company employees.

Enforcing safety guidelines and fostering culture of safety.

Keeping accurate inventory of welding supplies, and requisitioning supplies and equipment.

Participating in technical meetings to modify processes and increase productivity. Assist purchasing agent with technical information and participate in informal vendor meetings on occasion.

Participating in interviews and hiring process.

Giving HR feedback on employee performance.

Reporting disciplinary action that has occurred to HR, and recommending needing disciplinary action according to company policy.

WELDER JOB DESCRIPTION:

Precision Mig Welder will Fit and Weld sheet metal parts to the specifications of each job, and ensure they meet the outlined requirements. Specifications are gathered from work orders, customer drawings, sample parts, and/or completed assemblies. Materials to be welded are .060'' thick to 1/4'' thick. MUST have experience with light gauge material.

Duties:

* Welding components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions:

* Using clamps to fit work pieces together accurately;

* Examining work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with calipers, straightedges, templates, etc., to ensure conformance with specifications;

* Welding separately or in combination, using steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other alloys;

* Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, grinding or bolting component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding;

* Determining appropriate welding technique;

* Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance;

* Produce the maximum number of parts in minimum time by working efficiently;

* Follow company procedures and safety rules.

Requirements:

To be considered, Applicants for this position must:

* Be able to read basic blueprints with knowledge of welding symbols;

* Have experience welding light gauge sheet metal in a production environment;

* Be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and vendors as needed;

* Be able to lift up to 100 lbs;

* Be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, reach and perform repetitive hand and finger movements;

* Be able to work in cold or hot temperatures in plant.
