Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The AISA operator is responsible for ensuring the safe manufacture of quality laminate tubes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must possess the knowledge and demonstrate skills required to perform the essential functions of the position, though other duties may be assigned:


Able to perform all essential functions in a safe manner at all times.


Attend training sessions when required.


Operate and monitors the AISA tube-making machine to ensure product quality and optimize production output.


Operate and monitors the tube packing machine to ensure finished tubes are packaged in cardboard boxes correctly.


Meet a minimum production output for each shift as established by production scheduling and as directed by the supervisor.


Notify supervisor of adjustments needed and make adjustments as specifically delegated by the supervisor.


Maintain material stocks for the AISA machine as follows:




Load printed laminate reels onto machine laminate dispenser and splice new laminate reels to previous reel using knife and tape.

Load tube caps, shoulder/barrier components into machine bins from boxes.

Construct and load corrugated boxes into tube packing machine.





Must possess knowledge and demonstrate skills required to perform the following duties:

Diagnose and clear faults and/or tube jams in the tube-making and packing machines.

Understand how to turn off/on water and electrical power as well as know where they are located.

Remove/re-install forming bar.

As directed by Supervisor, able to:

Re-web laminate.

Reset BM welding head

Reset tube registration

Reset/replace BM drive belts and laminate drive system

Adjust trim blades

Produce tube body with acceptable side seam



On the KSM as directed by supervisor, able to:

Replace lens, ring, and matrix guide of welding head.

Understand location and operation of photo eyes and how to adjust

Reset KSM welding head preload and compression






Perform on-line inspection of each box of tubes. Remove any tube with cosmetic or mechanical defect by hand and replace with a tube that complies with Customer Specification Sheet.


Place finished boxed tubes on pallets as instructed by the Customer Specification Sheet.


Conduct quality assurance tests for on-line production as specified by Quality Testing Procedures.


Record quality assurance test results as specified by Quality Testing Procedures.


Advise supervisor of any tube production defects found during on-line inspection and quality assurance testing.


Able to certify on and operate a pallet jack or similar equipment.


Maintain a clean work area using a broom and dust pan, wipe machine with a hand rag and cleaner, mop floor and empty area waste cans when instructed to do so.


Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) when performing job assignments.


Must perform tasks as directed by Shift Supervisor.


May be asked to assist in the training of new operators.


Other duties assigned by the Shift Supervisor or determined necessary by Management.


ESSENTIAL CORE COMPETENCIES:


Must be able to speak, read, and legibly write English.

Production & Processing-Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control

Operation Monitoring-Watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly

Quality Analysis-Conduct tests and inspections of products, materials and processes to evaluate quality or machine performance

Troubleshooting-Determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it

Mechanical-Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, and maintenance

Reasoning-Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) without a calculator or other tool




EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Previous operator experience preferred.


High School Diploma or GED.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


None required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Due to the use of equipment causing electromagnetic fields, operator must be free of prostheses, particularly of a cardiac type (pacemaker) or a metal or similar implant. IntraPac Lawrenceburg cannot offer employment to anyone with these conditions.


Must be able to perform repetitive bending


Must be able to lift up to 45 to 70 lbs.


Possess ability to stand for up to 8 hours, including frequent walking, climbing and use of ladders, bending and twisting at the waist and knees, squatting or kneeling to change rolls, and lifting arms above the head.


Ability to hear conversation and warning alarms.


Ability to visually inspect small items (parts of tubes).


Ability to safely maneuver hauling equipment.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:



While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to dust/airborne particles; heights; loud noise & vibrations; mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. The noise level for this work environment is usually moderate. The work environment may include moderately hot or cold temperatures.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:


PPE may be required when performing some job functions, such as gloves, a smock, hairnet, safety glasses, etc.
