Summary of position:

The Manufacturing Technician working under limited supervision is responsible for direct manufacturing of the company’s products and for ensuring production line process support as well as new production line development. This position will take initiative to improve process and equipment efficiency, and will perform relatively complex assignments and solve problems that may have a variety of solutions. The position must be able to adapt work methods to different situations. Must be capable of resolving unusual, nonstandard problems.  In support of routine production, performs entry level routine production functions including filling, utility operations, packing, assembling, labeling and inspection under general supervision.  The position has the opportunity to advance into a supervisory role in operations.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide production line support
Provide hands on support and development for future new production lines
Identify opportunities for process and equipment optimization on both current and new product lines, develop and implement optimization solutions
Support engineering studies to test and prove optimization solutions
Conduct investigations and assist on projects to improve key metrics of cycle time, flow time, and yield
Conduct process time studies
Complete GMP related documentation for production and inspection activities
Assist with creating and modifying manufacturing floor layouts
Test and evaluate vendors, tools, material, and equipment to determine if they can be used in production of products
Development of production procedures
Assists engineers in the troubleshooting of failed product and production lines
Conduct qualifications and validations of processes and equipment
Utilize Lean / Six Sigma concepts to drive waste elimination

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma required
Production related experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry highly preferred
Associate/Technical trade degree in a related area preferred
Certifications and/or training in the Quality System Regulations, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, or other continuous improvement tools/practices are a plus
Strong working knowledge of equipment and process validation requirements
General working knowledge of a manufacturing supply chain including procurement, inventory management, and production management

 

Physical Requirements:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Office-based environment
Cleanroom and laboratory environment (with specific gowning and hygiene requirements)
Will work with potentially hazardous substances
