Job Description

Minimum 3 years industry knowledge and/or 3 years meat cutting experience required

 

Oversees employees and directs operations of Meat department and other areas of the warehouse. This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).

Essential Functions:
• Determines production requirements and participates in meat cutting and uses band saw, and tenderizer.
• Reviews department profit and loss statement. Develops and implements sales and merchandising plan for department.
• Observes employee performance to ensure proper department production procedures and standards are followed. Drafts and participates in presentation of employee performance appraisals. Reviews and approves area timecards.
• Puts wrapped and labeled meat on large trays of large wheeled cart and stocks in display case by reaching through sliding windows or moving rack to floor.
• Schedules, develops, counsels, trains, and directs department personnel. Makes recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination to Warehouse Manager.
• Checks quality and consistency of finished product. Oversees product presentation and merchandising.
• Implements and upholds safety and security procedures. Review sanitation log and checks for health code compliance, such as sanitation standards, temperatures, and pull dates.
• Approves and submits physical inventory periodically (13 times per year). Approves and submits orders to buying office for equipment, product and supplies.
• Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery, equipment, and implements.
• Provides and ensures prompt and courteous member service.

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
• Computer, copier, phone, fax, band saw, tenderizer, grinder, and wrapper.

Non-Essential Functions:
• Assists with front end duties and assists in other departments of the warehouse, as necessary.

Required:
• Must provide proof of readiness rating.
Minimum 3 years industry knowledge and/or 3 years meat cutting experience required.
• Floor Walk Inspection Training Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course Part 1, HIPAA Training, Supervisors Orientation, Level 1 & 2 Food Safety Certification and Food Handler’s Permit as required by local government and the NRFSP exam (all within 30 days) Leadership Development 101 (within one year) Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).

Recommended:
• High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School preferred
• Management experience preferred.
