Cemetery Groundskeeper - Full-time

The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington/Catholic Cemeteries is seeking seasonal Groundskeepers for our Wilmington and Dagsboro locations. The Groundskeeper is responsible for cutting grass, trimming grave markers, assisting in burials, and helping keep grounds in good condition. They also participate in the grounds maintenance and landscape projects to include, but not limited to, mowing, trimming, foundation installations, tree trimming and supporting other cemetery locations. Position is seasonal from mid-April to mid-October. This is not a benefits eligible position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Operate a push lawn mower and string trimmer for up to 8 hours a day trimming around memorials, monuments and other obstacles as needed. • Perform basic maintenance on push mowers and string trimmers. • Perform other grounds keeping duties such as weeding, trimming trees and shrubs, edging, raking, mulching and sweeping. OTHER DUTIES: • Perform inside and outside janitorial and clean up duties as requested. • Perform special projects such as painting and light building maintenance. • Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or equivalent. • Relevant experience of maintenance of cemetery grounds, gardening and preparation of graves preferred. • Sound knowledge of landscaping, general construction and maintenance of buildings. • Knowledge of using hand tools and power equipment.
