About this job

Job duties include but are not limited to: reading system schematics, ability to follow specifications to install, troubleshoot and implement system components; perform, monitor and inspect installations, including providing direction to contracted vendors; provide additional support to project personnel. Perform installation and maintenance tasks in the field, perform extensive troubleshooting and equipment repair/ replacement. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, be able to work independently with little supervision, occasionally work weekends, nights, and be on-call. Flexibility is key.

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently or with team on installations, modifications, and repairs of tolling equipment and related ITS systems at various sites in the region
  • Read Toll System schematics and drawings, equipment manuals and design plans
  • Install, upgrade, modify, replace and maintain equipment as directed or required
  • Perform a continuous preventative maintenance program according to schedule
  • Conduct reactive maintenance and repair as needed
  • Receive and check inventory
  • Monitor automatic trouble reporting system to ensure timely problem resolution in accordance with guidelines
  • Monitor repairs for timely completion and submit approval documents to appropriate
  • purchasing personnel for payment
  • Respond to and correct trouble reports
  • Test toll collection and ITS systems through physical inspection and electronic test and
  • measurement equipment procedures
  • Monitor, maintain and perform diagnosis of equipment problems with lane control servers, digital message signs, sensors, cameras, automatic vehicle ID readers, antennas, RF sources, switches, multiplexers, media converters, monitors, frame grabbers and other industry related equipment

Qualified candidates must have:

  • High School diploma with additional 2 years trade or technical school training
  • 3-5 years' relevant work experience
  • A good understanding of low voltage DC current. Experience with RF, microwave, electronics and AC circuitry is a plus
  • Experience utilizing multimeters, fiber termination kits, hand tools, communication cable
  • termination and test equipment
  • Working knowledge of computers, basic networking skills, Linux and Windows operating
  • systems with knowledge of Office Suite
  • Valid driver license

This position will be performed outdoors, in tunnels and near freeways. This position will involve

frequent utilization of scissor lifts, boom lifts, and bucket trucks. Tools and PPE will be provided.
