Honeywell is actively recruiting for a Sr. Counsel to join the team in Des Plaines, IL.

In this role, the successful candidate will primarily review, draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts and licenses and provide counsel to senior management within the company, coordinate with outside legal counsel, and may be expected to take on a mentoring role within the legal department. This is a key role in assisting all levels of management with commercial contracts, disputes and claims, and creating and adhering to company policies.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Analyze and summarize complex legal documents (including contracts) and make suggestions for alterations of those documents
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organization and developing strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk
  • Strategically partner with senior leaders to ensure business transactions are complaint with the law and applicable regulations
  • Responsible for assisting all levels of management on all corporate legal and regulatory compliance matters
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • 5+ years of legal experience at a leading law-firm and/or in-house legal department

  • Experience with negotiating and drafting of mergers and acquisitions contracts are a plus
