The Program Director, Radiology is a 12-month position responsible for all aspects of the Radiology program and future programs as they pertain to the Radiologic profession. The Program Director is responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of contemporary curricula, as well as coordination of contemporary resources for student instruction and maintaining professional standards as identified in accreditation criteria and the profession of Radiology. The Program Director will serve the College and the Division with service in committees and recruitment activities.

Examples of Duties:

  1. Maintains current unencumbered licensure in Diagnostic Radiography from the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental protection. Credentialed in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiographic Technologists.
  2. Initiates and encourages the cooperation and supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, lab assistants, and adjunct instructors in program assessment, long range planning, program activities, admission and marketing initiatives, and participation in College-wide endeavors.
  3. Coordinates the curriculum and course schedules with the Associate Dean of Clinical Studies.
  4. Develops new curriculum and revisions to align with Professional standards. 
  5. Assures continued compliance of the program with criteria for accreditation of appropriate external accrediting agencies including Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
  6. Complies with accreditation mandates, supervises clinical site visits, and provides notification of any substantive changes within the program or any change in accreditation status.
  7. Maintains professional expertise and/or professional proficiencies: Pursues professional development; Remains current in the professional standards. 
  8. Maintains required professional credentials, licensing, and continuing education hours, as discipline standard dictates.
  9. Develops, implements, and evaluates new programs, as identified by industry demand.
  10. Provides first-level resolution for program staff and student concerns.
  11. Engages and coordinates the efforts of an Advisory Board for the Radiology profession.
  12. Monitors and updates program-specific web page content and sends updates to Instructional Technology personnel.
  13. Works collaboratively with College personnel, such as student advisors and recruiters.
  14. Communicates and disseminates information received from administration to members of the program.
  15. Communicates program needs (including budgetary) to Division administrators.
  16. Coordinates periodic program review, annual reports, and assessment of student learning, in accordance with accreditation standards and College policies. 
  17. Coordinates outreach with development and maintenance of relationships with industry-related personnel and employers; participates in professional organizations promoting advancement of the profession of Radiology 
  18. Submits and maintains clinical contract requirements regarding Criminal History Background checks, Health and CPR. 
  19. Recommends adjunct faculty to the Dean, chairs search committees for new program faculty members (full- and part-time), and coordinates respective orientation to the program. 
  20. Evaluates adjunct faculty members and makes recommendations for renewal of contracts.
  21. Teaches courses, as needed, based on experiential levels.
  22. Participates in a reasonable number of Divisional and College activities and committees.
  23. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; either a two year or four-year program
  • Earned Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure in Diagnostic Radiography from the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental protection.  
  • Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Familiar with standards needed for accreditation by JRCERT
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time experience as a registered radiology technologist.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an instructor in an accredited school of radiologic technology
  • Experience with data collection, trending outcomes
  • Working knowledge of accreditation standards
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail. database) or proven ability to learn these skills
  • Utilization of innovative teaching methods incorporating technology, including on-line resources 
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of processes, programs, and services
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours to meet department and College needs
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings. 
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 

  • Earned Doctorate degree from an accredited Institution in applicable field of study
  • Previous experience providing clinical supervision and administrative leadership within a College/University 
  • Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic counseling
  • Experience with accreditation included but not limited to writing self-studies, site visits, peer evaluator for nationally recognized agencies 
  • Experience in the community college setting
