Who we are looking for:

F&R is looking for a Staff Geotechnical Engineer! This position will provide professional geotechnical engineering services on a variety of public and private sector projects including: buildings, bridges, roadways and pavements, retaining and shoring structures, underground infrastructure, storage tanks, towers, slopes and embankments, dams and other civil works projects. Services will be performed during both the design and construction phases of projects. Work with other members of the geotechnical services department including geologists, technicians, drill crews and sub-consultants to deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

Specific duties include, but not limited to:
  • Receives guidance from senior engineers and project managers.
  • Applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to provide quality engineering services
  • Performs field reconnaissance as directed
  • Conducts field logging and supports drilling program for variety of projects
  • Prepares laboratory test results and ensures proper lab procedures are followed for documentation and storage.
  • Assists in subsurface investigations including borings and test pits
  • Reports to project manager/Senior engineer on related project budgets, record keeping, materials testing, and inspections
  • Communicates with other engineers, drill crews, admin personnel, sub-consultants and contractors to provide service
  • Prepares technical reports and letters
  • Ensures project reports are completed and submitted timely
  • Ensures accuracy for all items related to billing for projects
  • Maintains excellent client relations by responding promptly, etc.
  • Provides input relative to needs of client to Project Manager
  • Provides stellar client service and stellar service delivery with each client interaction.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • P.E. preferred
  • Proficient with technical reports.
  • Proficient with engineering software.
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Strong project or task management skills, including scheduling, execution and follow-up
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both oral and written
  • Ability to successfully manage numerous assignments and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, and within a team environment to achieve goals
  • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R's pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
