Sojourn Philly is a hospitality group of four restaurants: Jet Wine Bar, Rex 1516, Café Ynez, and Sor Ynez. We have been operating restaurants in Philly since 2010. Our mission is to create welcoming environments that serve delicious food and drink, while being a caring and responsible neighborhood partner.

 

As HR Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day HR functions as well as departmental strategy and initiatives. You are responsible for employee relations, acting as employee advocate, resolving conflict, and encouraging health and wellness.

 

As a department of one you will manage all areas of HR Administration, with the support and collaboration of senior leadership and managers. Administrative responsibilities include but are not limited to payroll, benefits administration and open enrollment, hiring, onboarding and training, performance management, compliance, and as needed, the creation, communication and enforcement of employee policies and procedures. In addition, you’ll develop projects in support of ongoing employee engagement and organizational culture management. Sojourn Philly places a high value on employee satisfaction, and this position is responsible for measuring and maintaining our success in this area. This role requires an understanding of each employee’s skill set and individual contribution, as well as a strong relationship with each employee. This makes it essential for the HR Manager to be regarded as a trusted partner.

Required Skills / Experience:

 

●     4 years of HR Generalist experience

●     Prioritize in a fast-paced environment, with multiple projects

●     Establish trust and credibility with employees and management as an effective listener and confidante

●     Knowledgeable of current HR trends and able to keep current with changes in employment laws

●     Administer benefit plans, including working with the carriers to develop plans, and communicating these plans to employees

●     Facilitate conversations, resolve conflicts, and provide excellent internal and external customer service exhibiting high emotional intelligence and active listening skills

●     Address issues within established policies and guidelines, as well as implementing effective policy change or creation.

●     Able to identify patterns in employee concerns and recommend improvements

●     Demonstrate effective, knowledgeable written and oral communication skills in dealing promptly and accurately with employees across all levels of the organization

●     Provide guidance to employees and managers, demonstrating a solid foundation in critical human resource areas

●     Basic operational/process knowledge of HR systems (recruiting, onboarding, workers’ compensation, payroll, etc.)

●     Detail-oriented and have an organized approach for consistent and complete documentation

●     Proficient in MS Office and G-Suite
