Job Summary

Field Service Technicians will be expected to travel throughout the USA. Lead FST must have basic/advance/expert understanding of the technical competencies listed below in order to support and execute Field Service projects.  Field Service projects may include:  installations, repair, and maintenance of electrical components/power transformers.  Lead FST will provide on-site project support/execution and planning to FST crews.  Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.  Participate in safety training and technical training as required. 

To be proficient in technical competencies listed below:

  1. Transformer Assembly
  2. Electrical Testing
  3. Controls
  4. LTC's
  5. Oil Processing

Principle Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to drive company vehicle/equipment.
  • Receive assignments and instructions from manager - both oral and written.
  • Read, understand, and follow guidelines set forth Company procedures, and blueprints when performing assigned work.
  • Must be able to lead other FST's/crews.
    • Holding team accountable to project schedule execution
    • Ability to deliver key messages & communicate effectively
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve technical complex issues.
  • Basic/Advanced/Expert knowledge/troubleshooting experience of electrical testing/theory.
  • Basic/Advanced/Expert knowledge/troubleshooting experience of controls
  • Basic/Advanced/Expert knowledge/troubleshooting experience of oil processing
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints.
  • Must be able to compose Field Reports (Daily Activity reports, etc.) and any other job site, customer specific reports to management/customer in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to manage equipment maintenance on each job site.
  • Must be able to manage job site safety
  • Must be able to conduct pre-job/post-job walks
  • Must be able to assist Service Work Planner with following on-site project management:
    • Budget
    • Scope of work
    • Schedule
    • Manpower

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES



  • Must be mechanically inclined and have basic knowledge of hand tools
  • Must have basic understanding of operating heavy machinery/equipment.
  • Must be self-directed, positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions/directions.
  • Must have advanced computer skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Have understanding of transformer/industry specifications to be able to troubleshoot/analyze data.
  • Must have basic project management skills
  • Must be able to influence/manage without authority
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Must have basic understanding of financial concepts
  • Must be customer focus driven
  • Must be able to plan/drive execution to plan
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience:

  • Must have HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have advanced post-high school level education in lieu of 3 years of industry specific work experience
  • Must have utility experience
  • Must have valid Driver's License
  • Must have report writing experience.
  • Must have supervisory experience.
