Wheels is a last-mile, shared electric vehicle platform changing the current landscape in last mile mobility. Our products range from a shared rental marketplace to personal ownership and anything in between. We are a low cost, energy efficient way to get from point A to point B… and then some. 

This role will be based out of our HQ in Los Angeles, CA. We hope you're ready for the ride of your life. As our Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of our development team, engineering innovative products that provide our users with a safe and accessible best-in-class device.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform design engineering and release of device components and validation testing proposals
  • Develop design models and engineering drawings for new products and leverage team resources to complete device design
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to develop a cleanly integrated product
  • Work hands-on assembling and disassembling our e-scooters and prototypes

What You’ll Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer using Solidworks
  • Manufacturing background and experience working with overseas factories
  • Experience with product development from concept to validation and deployment
  • Product development with a focus on ease of manufacturing and cost optimization
  • History of making design decisions based on experience and FMEA understandings
  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping and 3D printing
  • A flexible mentality and comfortability working in high demand / fast-paced environments
  • Working experience in fields of consumer electronics, auto industry, and/or micro-mobility

Bonus points for any of the following (but not required): 

  • Solid understanding of ASME Y14.5 and tolerance analysis
  • Advanced surface modeling in any CAD program
  • Experience in design verification using FEA and motion studies
  • Familiar with best practices for revision control and PDM systems
