The Department Manager works closely with the Sales Floor Manager, Owner/Store Manager, and other members of the
management team to ensure associates provide exceptional customer service, while achieving sales goals. This includes
ensuring customer satisfaction, driving sales, building sale skills and product knowledge. Effective Department Managers
maximize productivity and profitability by balancing sales and expenses, identifying sales opportunities and setting
customer service standards. They must demonstrate knowledge of the store purpose and goals and have the skills to help
associates achieve those goals.
Requirements

The minimum requirements for this position include:

 Working Hours: Minimum 45 hours weekly with Manger of the Day responsibilities
 Education/Training: high school degree, college preferred
 Experience: Minimum of 2 years management experience
 Skills/Knowledge: Strong communication skills, organized, detail-oriented, and analytical ability
 Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
 Strong problem-solving, reasoning, budgeting, and organizational skills
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail
 Knowledge of retailer computer systems, MS Office, and project management systems a plus
 Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the
business
Additional Info

The major responsibilities for this position include:

 Train, coach and observe associates using the basic S.A.L.E.S. process
 Work directly with Inventory Control for merchandising decisions and ensuring product is current and fresh
 Implement the marketing strategy for the related department on a monthly basis
 Resolve customer and employee complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner
 Lead associate team to accomplish department goals
 Be proficient in all store technology (i.e., ACENET, POS system)
 Report to Sales Floor Manager for additional tasks/goals
