Job Description

The Specialist of Community Engagement and Grants will provide vital support to the college team and grant program for more than 25 minority-serving institutions, community colleges, women’s colleges and college systems to advocate for, adopt and implement 100% tobacco/vape-free campus policies. The Specialist will execute a plan to support grantee project leads (college faculty and staff) to reach their policy objectives and goal. The Specialist will also play a key role in grant recruitment, selection and management.

This position reports to the Director of Community Engagement and Grants and is a member of the Community and Youth Engagement Department, a 15-person team that inspires, educates and mobilizes young leaders, coalitions and organizations to act nationally and in their communities to create a future where tobacco use and nicotine addiction are a thing of the past.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of the college grant program in conjunction with the Director of Community Engagement and Grants
  • Lead webinar series for grantee project leads including set-up, agenda development, facilitation/presentation and participant follow-up
  • Schedule, take notes and provide follow-up on update calls with grantee project leads
  • Manage grantee files and communication including track and summarize grantee progress toward objectives and identify grantees that need extra guidance
  • Partner with college activism team to ensure alignment between student leaders’ program activities and implementation of grant requirements
  • Develop and execute recruitment plan for new college grant programs
  • Coordinate grant application review process
  • Improve online community for college grantees
  • Develop new written resources on tobacco/vape-free colleges
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned
  • Provide a variety of administrative support activities to ensure the college grants program requirements are met in timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3+ years working in public health or social activism
  • Strong computer, office software and webinar platform skills
  • Experience providing technical assistance and/or grants management
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work on several initiatives in an effective manner
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations
  • Ability to travel 15%
