The Claims Examiner assists management with providing claims service to policyholders and claimants; analyzes and monitors the progress of routine to moderately complex claims to determine the extent of the insurer’s liability, resolves property loss assignments promptly, fairly and cost effectively while providing Church Insurance Company’s insured clients with quality service and consistent claims management. This position requires individual judgment and a working knowledge of the Church Insurance Company’s claim processing procedures. Catastrophic commercial property claims handling experience. Experience with the Xactimate/Xactware estimating software program. A thorough knowledge of claim processing procedures. Effective negotiating skills. Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service. Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting solid judgement. Intermediate PC skills including Word, Excel & Powerpoint. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reviews, analyzes and verifies claim applications information and obtains related documentation for approval or denial of benefits under established policy provisions. Establish, reviews and revises indemnity and expense reserves for complex or severe exposure claims. Investigates, negotiates settlements and provides timely reports to reinsurers and Church Insurance Company management. Determines settlement by calculating amount due and approves payment. Examines, administrates and expedites loss adjustment payments and expenses. Informs reinsurers and customers about information pertaining to their claims. Monitors the progress of claims. Instructs, directs and manages external adjusters and attorneys. Maintains files for cases reported and prepares various statistical reports as requested. Assists with special projects as assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) Minimum of 5 years commercial property claim handling experience. Insurance related coursework preferable.
