Summary of Job: The Service Technician is responsible for performing quality tuning and repairs to customer ski and snowboard equipment, complete accurate work orders, and prioritize work in an expedient manner. They are responsible for delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Additional duties include assisting with retail operations and generating sales.

This is a seasonal position running from November to April. 

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Execute daily operations by opening and/or closing service outlets.
  • Acknowledge customers quickly and courteously.
  • Determine customer equipment needs.
  • Remain current on new industry products and trends.
  • Complete accurate work order paperwork and prioritize work orders in an expedient manner.
  • Have the ability to properly identify when a ski/snowboard requires a tune, recommend which tune will best benefit their equipment, and be able to sharpen, wax and drill equipment.
  • Fit Boots, Skis, Snowboards, Helmets and Poles to guest satisfaction.
  • Answer any resort-specific questions from guests in order to sell them products so they are well-equipped for a fun and safe day of snow sports.
  • Must be mechanically inclined with the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other heavy machinery on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally to coworkers and guests.
  • Provide high level guest service to all guests.
  • Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations of Vail Resorts and Mount Sunapee.
  • Create and maintain a productive and safe work environment, including the completion of all company mandated safety-related training and assessments.
  • Ensure all service locations are clean, have updated materials, and present a professional appearance to our guests, staff, and purveyors.
  • Assist other departments, as needed.
  • Adhere to and role model the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Willing to become certified by ski binding manufacturers.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old – Required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent – Preferred.  
  • Previous retail sales experience – Preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.  Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required.
  • Basic computer skills, RPOS experience - Preferred.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to ensure: teamwork, high level guest contact, and commitment to guest service.
  • Must demonstrate ability to receive and give direction and act upon it.
  • Understand basic skiing and snowboarding terminology – Required.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of products and trends within the ski and snowboard industry.
