Switchboard Operator

MULTIPLE 2ND amp; 3RD SHIFT POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Scope of Position
Serves as the primary contact person at the Hospital Switchboard which functions as the Public Information Control Center for the Medical Center on a 24-hour basis. This position involves directory assistance; overhead and digital paging; overhead public address announcements including codes; screening for patient information; identifying and obtaining resource personnel for various departments; training new staff.

Position Summary
Responsible for superior customer service in providing information to callers and directing calls to the appropriate personnel. This involves processing internal and external calls through an integrated computer telephone system, initiating overhead paging, activating pagers, providing patient information, and facilitating the communication of emergency situations.

Minimum Education Required
Per Classified Civil Svc Specs


Required Qualifications
For Hire: High School graduate or GED certificate required with data entry skills. Experience in healthcare setting with multi-line phone skills preferred. Per Classified Civil Service requirements.

On going: Extensive training with telecommunications, paging, and Physician on call scheduling. Demonstrates competency to meet essential job functions.
