Produce Fresh Cut Clerks are responsible for preparing product for the Cut Fruit section of the produce department as well as stocking and merchandising product while they assist guests with selection and sales. Additionally, they assist in tracking department sales, building displays and stocking and maintaining inventories.
Responsibilities:
1.Provides friendly and engaged guest care at all times.
2.Prepares fresh fruits and vegetables and salads for the Fresh Cut area. Ensures quality, freshness, selection, and adequate quantity to meet customer demand. Sets up, maintains, and closes the Fresh Cut area according to Company procedures.
3.Stocks, dates, and rotates Fresh Cut products while controlling shrink and costs.
4.Orders, receives, checks, and controls inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness.
5.Implements correct product preparation techniques. Uses and operates related equipment such as slicers, wrapping machines, mixers, pallet jacks, hand truck, knives, safety cutters, scales, and garbage disposal.
6.Complies with all food and workplace safety rules and regulations.
7.Verifies pricing accuracy and additional display signs.
8.Ensures safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work area, cooler, and equipment.
9.Assists guests by making product suggestions and engages in suggestive selling.
10.Responsible for rotation of merchandise and maintenance of displays ensuring our products meet our freshness guarantee at all times.
11.Store is open seven days a week and may require weekend, holiday and shift work.
Qualifications:
•Passion for serving people and creating a guest focused work environment.
•Math skills necessary, but not limited to calculating sales and discounts.
•Ability to work in cold/wet environment in order to clean and sanitize tools, pots/pans and utensils using cleaning chemicals and detergents without allergic reaction.
•Ability to work around food ingredients, produce and spices without allergic reaction.
•Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with guests and associates in professional and courteous manner. This includes answering telephone calls and using in-store intercom system.
•Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment use and work environment.
•Current state Food Handlers Permit may be required.
Work space will be primarily in refrigerated prep room with additional stocking/merchandising work occurring on the sales floor. Will be exposed to ice/wet areas. May be required to join a labor union.
