Job Description

Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital located in Harrisonburg, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse - Circulator for the Cardiac Operating Room (OR) Team

 

$15,000 sign on bonus available for qualified candidates.   Relocation assistance can be provided!

Registered Nurse (RN) with Operating Room experience required (will consider General or Cardiac operating room experience)   ​

 

This position is full time rotating shift.  Monday through Friday 6:30am to 2:30pm and required call.  Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call purposes. 

 

Sentara RMH Medical Center is a 238-bed, Magnet designated hospital located in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Harrisonburg, Rockingham County is a progressive and picturesque location that rests in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, which is known world-wide for its beauty, including the renowned Skyline Drive, which winds through Shenandoah National Park.  If you love outdoor activities, you will find great hiking, skiing, camping, boating, golfing, collegiate sports, concerts, wineries, breweries, and you will have the opportunity to attend many community events throughout the year.

Department Overview:

We are made up of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR.   Nurse will work with a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants.  

 

The cardiovascular operating room nurse works as part of the surgical services and operating room teams that treat open-heart (cardiovascular) patients. Prepares OR Room, ensures equipment and medications are available for the operating room team.  Reviews patient’s chart. Assesses patient upon admission and through procedure Prep and positions patient in OR Administers medication, monitor vital signs during procedure. Document’s information. Provides a call report to the ICU floor nurse after the surgical procedure.  Prepares OR for the next case.

Education:  Diploma RN, associate degree RN, bachelor’s degree RN, or master’s degree RN.  

All Direct Care RNs required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.  ACLS within one year.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.\n\nBSN or MSN preferred. New Hire Education Requirement: All new RNs who do not have their BSN will be required to sign a BSN Agreement committing to enrollment in an accredited RN to BSN program within 24 months of hire and successfully obtaining their BSN within 5 years of hire. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI
  • Registered Nurse (RN) Single State - Nursing License - Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
