Title: Planner

 

General Description:

Position is a full-time, salaried, remote position which requires travel (primarily throughout eastern Pennsylvania) to meetings and appointments. Responsible for providing technical, program, and administrative support toward the delivery of all company programs and services.

 

Essential Functions:

● Assists in the development of planning studies and reports in support of new and updated plans, programs, and regulations.

● Conducts research and prepares technical reports on community development best practices.

● Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, tax base data, and occupancy rates.

● Assists in the development of new ordinances and ordinance amendments.

● Conducts field evaluations and assessments.

● Develops, implements, and manages community programs.

● Acts as liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers, and elected officials in developing community plans and communicating land development and zoning policies and regulations.

● Attends evening meetings.

● Acts as an extension of staff to handle day-to-day activities to include project management, land development plan and permit reviews, meeting administration, meeting minutes, grant compliance, and file management.

 

Knowledge:

● Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning.

● Knowledge of a relevant specialization such as land use planning, zoning, transportation planning, environmental planning, urban design, housing, historic preservation, or economic development is desired

● Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection.

● Ability to use GIS programs and applications.

● Knowledge of HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program a plus.

● Government experience a plus.

● Experience with Environmental Review Records a plus.

 

Required Skills:

● Ability to review plans and apply provisions of the ordinances and codes to determine compliance with such regulations and to apply regulations to field conditions.

● Ability to create graphic designs, development strategies, and render site plans via sketches and/or computer graphics highly desirable.

● Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.

● Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

● Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

● Ability to facilitate in-person and virtual public participation activities.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, GIS, public policy, or related area of study.

· One year of planning experience preferred.
