Head Chef Kitchen Manager

The Olympic Tavern is a longstanding restaurant and bar in Rockford's historic North End district. We are currently searching for a creative professional Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to join our team and lead our kitchen crew to the next level. We are a high volume casual dining restaurant, with a friendly pub atmosphere, focused on craft beer & cocktails, locally sourced food, and fresh seafood.

As kitchen lead/manager, you will directly supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in preparing and serving food, but may also participate in FOH training, off site catering and events, as well as staffing, costing, and other managerial duties. We have some menu staples, but we are very open to a menu revamp, and hope you bring some creativity with you!

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operation of food and food service staff
• Monitor quality of products and services produced
• Hire, train and manage a staff of cooks and dish crew
• Adjust daily schedule for personnel to ensure optimal efficiency
• Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies according to budget and sales projections
• Maintain the highest health standards for raw and finished products
• Work with owner, FOH manager, and staff to keep labor and food costs in line with sales projections

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years previous experience in food service leadership
• Knowledge of common food safety practices, with preference to HAACP training, and Food Sanitation Manager license holder
• Strong leadership qualities
• Professional behavior, respectful attitude
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Able to deliver creative, delicious food with minimal waste.

We are open to discussing a base salary dependent on experience, meeting food and labor cost goals, performance and food quality. For the right candidate, raises, bonuses and and potential benefits like insurance and dental will be available after a 30 day and a 3-month performance evaluation.
