Department Overview

Information Technology (IT) is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate to effectively deliver high-quality technology solutions. The department designs, develops, operates, and maintains the information and telecommunications systems that enable the Company to meet its commitment to customers: Keeping the Lights on and the Gas Flowing, delivering at a Reasonable Price, and Providing Simple and Convenient Options. The Technology Capabilities Architecture (TCA) Team is part of centralized Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) group within IT with a mission to help PG&E meet its strategic objectives and maximize the effectiveness of the business by standardizing, optimizing, and harmonizing the technology portfolio.

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the TCA Senior Manager, the successful candidate in the role will be accountable for collaboratively defining and driving the target state architecture for their assigned domain. 

Two open positions include IT Service Management and Enterprise Cloud Architect.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze technology trends and spur innovation
  • Develop and maintain architectural artifacts including target architectures, short and long-term implementation roadmaps, architecture patterns, reference architectures, opinion papers, and architecture decision frameworks
  • Establish and drive enterprise strategies and roadmaps that enable a portfolio to support current and future business and technology capabilities
  • Work with platform, operations, deployment, and other teams to ensure that the best options are considered for on-prem or public/private cloud hosted solutions
  • Assist the Agile Program Management Office (APMO) and Lean-Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) in maintaining Value Streams and Portfolio Kanban
  • Standardize and optimize technology stack and usage across the enterprise through various architecture governance processes
  • Lead Architecture Community of Practice Working Groups for assigned domains
  • Drive enterprise collaboration across Lines of Business

 

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of cumulative experience as an Enterprise and/or Solution Architect

 

Desired: 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Experience with architecting innovative cost-effective solutions in public cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle, Salesforce) and on-prem private cloud environments (Dell)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and good judgment
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Thorough understanding of Lean/Agile principles
  • Relevant industry certifications such as AWS Solution Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF, ITIL Master, SAFe Agilist, COBIT, and Six Sigma
  • Experience working with or in the utility industry
  • Deep desire to make a difference in people’s lives by supporting the organizational mission, vision, and core values
