BOH line cook / prep

Welcome to The Hive Back of House! We are a healthy superfood café known for our acai bowls. We are looking for motivated people to have an impact on the future of the brand. Base pay starts at $16 (more with extensive experience) but you get $3 in tips per hour per team member. If your tips fall short of this, we will make up the difference ourselves, so the minimum you will make is $19 per hour. We will also do a sign-on bonus: $500 payable a month from your first start date and another $500 payable two months after your first start date. This is obviously only valid if you are still working for us when the payable dates come.

It's not all butterflies and rainbows. We definitely hustle to get orders out in a timely manner and make customers feel happier than when they walked in.

We’re looking for line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. As a back of house team member you are the beating heart and soul of the establishment, the substance to the appearance of the brand. Without you, all else is just words without action. A great BOH team member embodies the core value of accountability. You must feel accountable to your teammates, stay invested in their growth, be an expert communicator, and hustle hustle hustle to get orders out as quickly as possible. If you were in the NBA or NFL, you would want to be champions right? Every day is a new game. Execute dishes consistently, efficiently, and quickly as possible and you get the win. The motto is to be the team member you want others to be for you. The work isn’t easy so some prior kitchen experience is a must.

• Communication - the core of teamwork, especially in a loud, busy kitchen
• Sense of urgency - to execute properly we have to hustle, hustle, hustle. No such thing as downtime in a kitchen.
• Equanimity - stay calm under pressure. Thrive in the rush.
• Focus - engages fully in the task at hand, maintain quality and efficiency.
• Consistency - every dish, no matter who is making it, should look and taste the same
• Cleanliness - making food for people is an honor and it should be as clean as possible
