Overview

Our Regional Director of Nursing is a Registered Professional Nurse with experience in the practice of nursing, possessing advanced studies, and expertise in administration of Nursing Services. Possesses the authority, responsibility, and accountability for structuring, comprehensive planning, and implementing the Nursing Service Program within assigned region(s). Ensures the activities of the nursing program are based upon goals, objectives, and policies and procedures of The Company and the facility, and are compliant with ACA, NCCHC, and State accreditation standards.

Excellent regional leadership role for an RN.Remote based with frequent travel necessary to Northern CA, Oregon, and Washington.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Must be graduated from an accredited School of Nursing

Experience:
  • Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience in an acute setting preferred
  • Emergency Room, communicable disease, with medical and surgical experience preferred
  • Proficient in delivery and administration of correctional nursing services preferred

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse within the state
  • Current CPR Certification
Responsibilities

  1. Oversees planning, priority setting and the development of policies and procedures within their assigned region for health care activities that comply with facility contractual requirements and ACA, NCCHC and State standards.
  2. Oversees planning of the nursing orientation, nurse in-service training, and continuing education within their assigned region.
  3. Oversees the coordination of the development and evaluation of patient care according to the standards of nursing practice in the respective states throughout their region.
  4. Prepares/submits reports as requested for Regional Manager in a timely manner.
  5. Acts as the infection control resource consultant for the ICD nurses and reviews meeting minutes and all infirmary reports.
  6. Develops, implements, and evaluates the philosophy, goals, objectives, structure, and operation of nursing services within their region.
  7. Ensures the practice of nursing is consistent with current standards and is responsible for level of care throughout their region.
  8. Serves as representative for and/or liaison between nursing services and other health care providers as well as the Regional Manager and Regional Medical Director.
  9. Provides guidance to the nursing staff within their region regarding patient care problems and delegates responsibility within the scope of the employees' abilities.
  10. Visits all sites in their region and provides guidance to site DONs in resolving issues/concerns regarding nursing practice.
  11. Supports and participates in evaluation designed to improve work conditions and patient care throughout their region.
  12. Participates and maintains good relationship with Dept. of Corrections.
  13. Keeps abreast and follows through on nursing incidents occurring within their region.
  14. Ensures all communicable diseases are reported to the local/state health authorities as needed.
  15. Assesses established policies and procedures with re-review as needed.
  16. Develops, implements, and updates the Infirmary Manual, Hospice Manual, and Infection Control Manual.
  17. Assists the Medical Director in writing nursing guidelines for the RNs & LPNs.
  18. Post Orders, if applicable, per site contract
  19. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  20. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  21. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  22. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.
