Store managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their location. The aim of any retail manager is to maximize profit while minimizing costs. Store managers ensure promotions are accurate and merchandised to the company’s standards, the staff is fully versed on the expectations and duties for the day, and excellent guest services standards are met. Store managers are also required to interact with human resources, marketing, logistics, information technology, guest service, and finance.

Below are the essential functions that a Manager of our company must adhere to:

Duties & Responsibilities

General Management
  • Operate within our company’s guidelines as outlined in our Company handbook
  • Follow the labor budget set by the company to make sure that each store can be profitable
  • Make sure each employee on duty including yourself has a logo shirt with our company name! If an employee doesn’t have a company shirt a training vest is to be worn
  • Make sure each and every employee understand and adhere to all ABC and Tobacco sales regulations which are addressed in our handbook
  • Create the work schedule according to operating hours to make sure the store is staffed sufficiently
  • Must be capable of performing the required reports with an understanding of the price book and what it entails
  • Make sure all prices are correct and promotions are implemented
  • Make sure all mark up and markdowns are completed correctly and timely
  • Assure vendors are properly checked in per company policy
  • Make sure all equipment is operating (ie: carwash, pumps etc). If not please notify DM immediately of any discrepancies
Accounting
  • Review each employee’s shift report to make sure the money matches the sales data.\
  • Make sure each employee understands how to use the time-keeping system (ADP) and approve the sheet verifying time worked while managing the labor allowance for your store
  • Make sure all batch reports on all machines balance to the register tape
  • Accounts for all store-use merchandise, voids, and no sales
  • Make sure each employee knows what information is required in order to complete a company charge ticket
  • Maintain cigarette counts
  • Secure lottery tickets per company policy and perform daily audits on the tickets
Guest Service
  • Make sure every employee greets each guest that comes through our doors utilizing our “Fast, Friendly service with a smile” motto
  • Ensure that each employee is friendly and courteous at all times
  • Always strive to be helpful and attentive to each guest’s needs
  • Stay knowledgeable about pricing and location of all merchandise so that you may assist guests if needed
  • Always say “Thank You” when closing a sale!
Personnel
Stay on top of potential employee issues and keep District Managers aware of situations or problems that may be occurring that could have an adverse effect on the store’s operating performance!
Administer corrective action plans/conference reports(write-ups)

Work Schedule
Managers are required to work 50hrs per week. Managers are to work 1-weekend day and 1-night shift per month
