Bus Driver Full time/ Part time- Forsyth County Schools

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

May require:

Knowledge of basic motor vehicle and school bus operation; local and state traffic ordinances; school bus safety policies and procedures; local and state roads and highways sufficient to locate specific locations and addresses; vehicle maintenance requirements, records and procedures.

Skill in effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication; safe operations of motor vehicles; communicating school bus safety policies and procedures to passengers/students; courteous and tactful treatment of passengers/students; operating electronic communication devices.

Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles including school buses; identify the need for, perform or have performed routine vehicle maintenance procedures; keep accurate vehicle records; work frequently in a seated position; maintain a high degree of attention to traffic and road conditions.

PERFORMANCE FUNCTIONS & ESTIMATED FREQUENCY 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Other Professional Duties May Be Assigned) 

• Transports students to and from school and other events  50% 
• Ensures safety of students while boarding, exiting and riding the bus  15% 
• Cleans bus by sweeping, taking out trash and other duties, as necessary  10% 
• Inspects the safety mechanisms of the bus  10% 
• Fuels buses as needed or in the event of an emergency  10% 
• Meets with parents and administration  5% 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (Other Professional Duties May Be Assigned) 
 

Required qualifications:

• 18 years or older
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• At least high school diploma or equivalent or higher
• Valid driver's license
